Keep Your Home Safe and Warm

Kitchen and dining room with fireplace

Looks like we’re in for a longer winter! Use these three tips to keep your home warm all winter long.

Fan Direction:

In the winter, fan blades should rotate in a clockwise or “reverse” direction to redistribute warm air, which naturally rises to the top of the ceiling.

Mind the Gap:

Here is a fun trick - light a candle and hold it in front of windows in your home. If it flickers, you could have a gap that needs to be sealed. For doors, consider a door snake or sweep to cover the gap between the door and the floor.

Move Furniture:

Be sure to move furniture away from vents. You want to make sure each room in your home is getting the maximum heating potential.
